Diaconal Colloquium

Beginning with the Diocesan School Semester of September 2008 there will be new required course work for all those in the Diaconal Process commencing with the second and continuing through the third year of the curriculum. This course is titled "Diaconal Colloquium." The purpose of the Colloquium is to guide and monitor the formation of the diaconal nominees, develop ministry, and construct 'ministry plan.' During the first year of classes Diaconal nominees will outline a ministry plan. That plan will be reviewed, modified and monitored during the second year. Mentor assignments in the various ministry specializations will also be made in the first year.

In addition, ample time will be allowed at each class meeting for ministry plan assessment and community development. The course work will include various aspects of ministry such as congregational development, family/organizational systems, opportunities for ‘Safe-Guarding God’s Children,’ and ‘Anti-Racism,’ Stewardship, Outreach, and Evangelism training, to name but a few.
